Ready to spark Joy?

Through my own involvement in the arts scene as a performance artist, I came to find myself surrounded by creative souls with diverse skill sets. Recognizing art as a powerful form of activism, I founded Honeysuckle Creatives in 2016 to change the landscape of New Mexico Art & Culture by curating intentionally inclusive opportunities for underrepresented communities in the region.

I organize events focused on Black Joy as an act of resistance.

My goal is to create spaces where intersectional community members can come to engage hearts, minds and senses in celebration and revelry for Black people.

If you’re a nonprofit, small business or corporation and you want to collaborate on an event that authentically engages community members and donors alike, while still being a damn good time, let’s talk.

In the Spirit of Joyful Collaboration,

Ebony

 Past Events

Burque Noir Series

Burque Noir, an award winning and brilliant multimedia event, is stimuli for all senses steeped in originality and blackness; where black artists deliver powerful messages through dance, music, poetry, visual art, and networking. We identify artists from all genres, who may be isolated by marginalization, while representing some of Albuquerque's brightest creative minds.

Dreamscape

The Dreamscape, a product of Joyful Collaboration between The Syndicate - YBABQ x Burque Noir produced rest as a form of resistance through an afro-futuristic lens. Celebrating the varied experience of Blackness by centering Black people, queer voices, creatives, and their accomplices.

Do you know how hard it is to rest (let alone in public) in a Black / Queer / House-less / Trans / Femme / Activist or otherwise unseen body? The Syndicate x Burque Noir built the coolest place to rest inside SOMOS ABQ 2019 outdoor music festival. Guests took a break from the crowd in an urban oasis. Visitors were able to retreat to a sanctuary set with hammocks, cozy cushions, refreshments, and a VR Escape with Oculus headsets provided by Cruxx.

Unity in Color

Independently produced humanitarian photo series for the global initiative to stand in solidarity and show our support for Women’s Equality. We acknowledge our history as we move towards our collective future. We wear yellow and gold as a nod to earlier feminist movements and ancient symbols of the divine feminine, while acknowledging that inclusive and intersectional feminism is our standard today.

High Tea On The Bosque Series

Multi-media experiences of arts and entertainment by an array of black artists and performers accompany scrumptious treats and tea.

In honor of Black History Month, we celebrated the cultural diversity and heroes of New Mexico with an afternoon of live performances, visual art and hands-on art activities for the entire family. The event featured singer-songwriter Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim from Las Cruces as well as recitalist and vocal coach Leon Eldridge from Albuquerque. Queneesha Myers with Cakes and Sweets Boutique provided scrumptious treats to go with the tea.
